A dash of Hollywood sparkle and a marketing first for Setfords Solicitors as it releases its new online advert targeting would-be consultant lawyers

Setfords Solicitors is targeting would-be consultant lawyers using what is believed to be the first recruitment advert of its kind within the legal industry.

The 55-second advert, which is released today is being promoted on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as well as on the company’s recruitment website www.consultantsolicitor.co.uk.

Titled “Living the Dream” the film features a man living a “dream” life at his seaside home, revealing the rewards lawyers can enjoy if they work as consultants. The man later wakes up in an office to discover it was, in fact, just a dream. But as the advert points out, it doesn’t have to be.

The advert has a dash of Hollywood sparkle having been narrated by Nick Brimble, who played Little John in the 1990s blockbuster Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which starred Kevin Costner.

Nick, who more recently has been seen playing the role of Jack Chapman in Grantchester, and is currently filming The Halcyon for ITV, is one of two well-known faces to feature.

Stephen Harakis, who plays the leading role of the lawyer – might look familiar from his role in the well-known Nationwide advert where he played the role of the father who passes on his scarf to his son. He has also played Dr Markos in BBC’s Doctors.

The daughter is played by Rosemary Aburrow. The mother by Rachel Heaton.

CEO Chris Setford said: “We wanted to communicate with lawyers that there is a better way of working – one which offers far greater rewards not just for themselves, but also for their clients and their families. We wanted to show what a happier life would look like and what can be achieved with the right support.”

Fellow CEO Guy Setford added: “We asked our PR agency, Calder PR, to come up with something that best communicates our message and we couldn’t be happier with the result. We feel the film captures the great benefits of working as a consultant at Setfords.

“The founder of Calder PR, Keir MacKenzie, is an ex-BBC producer and director, and the advert his firm has delivered reflects someone used to working to an internationally-renowned broadcast standard.”

The advert is part of a cross-promotional campaign that will also see full-page adverts designed to look like film posters appearing in both The Lawyer and The Law Society Gazette, with further, as yet undisclosed, content to follow over the next six weeks. The advert comes after the release of a series of blogs by Chris Setford about the benefits of working as a consultant lawyer at Setfords.

Chris added: “Our focus, as ever, is on providing the best support for lawyers so they can provide the best service to their clients. As part of those efforts we opened new offices in Chancery Lane in London earlier this year and ever since we’ve been spreading the message about the tremendous opportunities working as a consultant lawyer offers. This advert is the latest part of that campaign.”
